31-Day Blog Challenge: First Celebrity Crush
It's day #9 of my Blog Challenge and it's a fun one today! We're talking first celebrity crushes. I have to mention two because as far as I can remember, I was always crushing simultaneously. Crushing hard. I was a bit of early achiever as a child and could write legibly in kindergarten, so that's when I received my first diary. I still experience side-splitting laughter every time I go back through my childhood diaries. Almost every single page is about a boy I had a crush on. Many of the pages are edited because when I would develop a new crush, in real life or in TV land, I would go back through and write his name over the top of the old crush. You could say I was a little boy crazy.
Celebrity crushes were especially real to me. Since I was at least eight years old, I knew I wanted to be an actor. My imagination would go wild when I would watch the shows that featured my main squeeze. I thought there was possibly a chance these men and I could meet one day and actually hit it off. There was just one little problem . . . I was about 30 years too late. Which brings me to the reveal. Who the heck am I talking about??
Barry Williams - More commonly known as Greg Brady from The Brady Bunch. I sure thought he was groovy. I mean, just look at that smile! And he had a voice that made me swoon. Before I even knew what that meant!
John Schneider - aka Bo Duke from The Dukes of Hazzard. He is my all-time celebrity crush. The hunkiest of all hunks. He was handsome, could out-drive anyone, and knew his way around a bow and arrow.
Unfortunately, these shows were in syndication by the time I was growing up watching them. These men were even further out of my league than the average celebrity crush. However, it did make me feel good to have these guys all to myself while everyone else went crazy for the Backstreet Boys.
What about you? Who was your first celebrity crush? Don't be embarrassed; leave a comment below!
